Hand Drawn Lyrics - Mid Life Crisis

I've been really inspired this week to relax and create some hand-drawn art.

I spend a LOT of my time in front of a computer screen so it was truly wonderful to just relax and let my pen "go for a walk". Partway through I realised I havent drawn like that since I was probably about 10. It so easy to get caught up with perfecting the end image and forget to enjoy the process of creating just for its own pleasure.

The inspiration to create something hand drawn came from a weekend visit to Yorkshire Sculpture Park to see the excellent Rob Ryan Exhibition - You can still do a lot with a small brain. Loved his work and highly recommend a visit if you are in the area. The exhibition catalogue is also available at the Sculpture Park Shop. I also bought another wonderful book - Over & Over - A catalogue of hand drawn patterns - by Mike Perry which is great for making you want to pick up a Sharpie and get drawing.

I was fairly surprised and pleased with the results of my efforts and have been experimenting further with colour in Photoshop [cant keep away!] The resultant image is like something dredged up from the back of my childhood mind in the 70's which is fairly apt for the subject. Great fun.

I have added some colour to the image digitally in Photoshop which gives it a lot more life. Really pleased with how its all turned out and definately going to be working on more hand drawn work in the near future.
