My current work examines the dehumanising effect of modern life, consumer culture and the “Work | Buy | Consume | Die” trap we find ourselves locked into. The stress of struggling to keep afloat in the modern world with the demands and sacrifices this brings is a recurring topic.
It’s all too easy to get carried along at breakneck speed by the various parts of our lives. I hope my work reminds viewers to slow down and enjoy the important things.
Zombies occur frequently in my work as a metaphor for the human condition. Conversely the beauty of nature offers an antidote.
I am inspired by vintage film posters and I enjoy appropriating their format to communicate about everyday issues.
As a printmaker I relish the magical and indirect path of creating the print. I am fascinated by the alchemy of the transformation via the process and the fresh excitement of the end result.
